It is a heterogenous collection that has been built through time by donations and acquisitions, transfers from other military units or the General Staff added to other albums put together by the museum specialists of the interwar period (such as A. Potocki: the Uniforms of the Romanian Army 1830-1930, The Infantry and Cavalry Weapons of the National Military Museum). The collection holds items reflecting the independence war 1877-1878, the Kingdom Proclamation of 1881, the Balkan Wars, the First and Second World Wars, the Union of 1918, the 1919 campaign, visits of high foreign dignitaries to Romania during the communist epoch, the Revolution of 1989. The albums also refer to officers’ graduation classes starting with the second half of the 19th century or dedicated to specific branches of the army: quartermaster, sanitary service, engineering branch, cavalry etc.
