The collection, formed up by 1152 items, comprises all the types of materiel which compose a horse’s harness and a full carriage set. We can point out saddles (from the 15th up to the 20th century) which belonged to state leaders such as Alexandru Ioan Cuza, members of the Royal family like King Carol I, King Ferdinand I, King Mihai I, Queen Maria, Prince Nicolae, Princess Elena or other important figures such as Russian General Prince Pavel Kiseleff. Other related items are saddle blankets which belonged to the Royal family and other military figures, stirrups, bits, reins, harnesses etc.
The most representative pieces of this collection are the 7 carriages and 3 sleighs which were used by the Royal or Princely Families between 1864 and 1947 with all the necessary ornaments and accessories. Adding to these, the collection also displays a field kitchen, a military baggage carriage, 2 wireless telegraphy waggons as well as a narrow-gauge steam locomotive.
Among the institutions which contributed to the gathering of these collectibles, whether past or present, we can point out the Romanian Embassy in Vienna, through its military attaché, the General Inspectorate of the Cavalry, the Brukenthal Museum and the Sibiu City Hall, the Romanian Red Cross, the Royal Palace, Craiova Barracks Service, Arad Regional Museum, Peleș Museum etc.
